A visit to Candy Cane Lane

We went to visit Candy again last week.  (She is the girl that we have been helping.) A while back, we all came down with the flu the day that we visited her.  After a month of the flu going through the family and recovery, we went to visit her and take her a couch.  She wasn't home.  Come to find out, her car had broken down and we were only a block away from her.

After the flu, we ended up with the food poisoning.  That took it's toll on us and recovery took a lot longer than one would expect.  Finally, we were strong enough to take Candy the couch.

The couch was an important piece.  It had a BED in it!  Candi had been sleeping on the floor for months.  When she saw how comfortable the couch was and that it had a bed in it, she literally jumped for joy.  It was so sweet to see her reaction.

Please continue to pray for Candy.  She just wants her baby back.

The photos that I am posting is the beautiful scenery of the city where she lives.

Look what I got...

... for FREE!

I've been super couponing for a couple of weeks and decided to try the Walgreens thing.  Some of this is from Meijer and Target too.

You can find out more about super couponing on my Goody Box blog.

When we walk into a store my husband likes to strike up conversations with the employees.  He likes to ask, "What's for free today?"  Well, now he knows!  Whatever your wife has coupons for!!  (When the employee says, "Nothings free!"  my husband likes to say, "God's love is always free!")

We are singing

this song for resurrection Sunday.  Have you ever heard it?

I really felt like it was ok.

Have you ever done something totally out of the ordinary and maybe even unsafe because you felt God in it?  Ok, I'll just tell ya.  I picked up a stranger.

I was at Aldi getting some veggies for dinner (I know... they're not organic) and there was a boy (18-20) in front of me.  He had a few groceries and 3 recylable Aldi bags.  He couldn't afford the bags so he put them back -  He couldn't afford some of the groceries so he put a few back.

I could handle the bags and I could handle a box of "Cookie Crisp" but when he started putting several of the groceries back that's when compassion steped in.  I offered to pay for the rest of his order and he accepted.  He was a little confused at first but was grateful.  (Isn't it a BLAST confusing people with kindness?)

As I was leaving, the boy whispered something to me.  He quietly (because of embarrassment I guess) asked if I could give him a ride home.  I said that I couldn't (only women) but that my husband could.  He accepted.

I put my groceries in the car and called my husband.  Since I was at peace with the situation my husband said that it would be ok for me to give him a ride.

I drove up to the boy (who was patiently waiting for me to go home and get my husband) and told him that my husband said it was ok for me to give him a ride.

As we drove home, he opened up to me a bit about his life.  Interesting... I'm a complete stranger.  I often go home to my husband and ask if I have a sign on my forehead that says to tell me all about your life!

The boy was open to having someone from our church come and pick him up some Sunday.  It just so happens that one of our families lives a block away from him!!  ;)  I think I'll hook them up!

So, that's my crazy story for the day.

What does "ALL" mean?

Psalm 103:2-5

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,

And forget none of His benefits;

3 Who pardons all your iniquities,  (good thing!)

Who heals all your diseases;   (really, ALL?)

4 Who redeems your life from the pit,

Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;

5 Who satisfies your years with good things,

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

Living with JOY

Sara at Splashin Glory posted about Livin' Life.  (Check her out.  She is a beautiful example.)

She wants to know who will join her in livin' life and enjoying life this week.

I put my comment on her post and decided to blog about it.

Here is what I did Saturday:

Today, I lived.

1. I got out of the house with the boys. (That's huge for me!)

2. Went to a store and met a lady that I met on the internet. (I don't usually condone that.) She gave me coupons and we talked about homeschooling.

3. While at the store, I ran into one of my kids' friends and his dad. Let the kid ride with us to the next store.

4. Last but not least, we all ran through the ice rain. It was cold but fun!

Friends... again!

Ok, I am going to harp on this friend thing a little longer.  Bear with me!

In order to save money, I cut my own hair.  Actually, I do a lot of things to save money.  (See my coupon blog: The Goody Box)  While I'm cutting my hair, the quiet is deafening.  I have a good amount of time (because I'm not a professional) to think about things.

I got to thinking about my childhood friend.  We started being friends in 4th grade and were pretty close up until we were about 24.  I think of a lot of things when I think of her but one thing that stands out in my mind is something that looks like this:

Yes, that's right.  This Pastor's wife used to go clubbing!  (Not one of the proudest times in my life.)  Did we have fun?  Absolutely!  Did I do wrong things?  Absolutely.  (That's what I'm not proud of!)

...Back to the haircut.  I began thinking about my childhood friend Jenny.  I was thinking of inviting her to my coupon party and thought that I should call her this evening.  Not 15 minutes later, she called me!!!!!

I was cracking up!  We have talked, maybe, 3 times in the last year.  The last time was about 3 months ago.

I hope to rebuild our friendship.  With God's help, we can build a better one than it ever was.

Maybe this will be us one day:

Friends

This post is going to be a bit of a rant for me.  I guess, so that I can "talk" some of my frustration out instead of letting the person who said it get an ear full!!

I was recently criticized for not having many (as in a lot of) friends. (Obviously, they don't know about all of you! Wink wink!) First let me say, the one who said this doesn't know me from the man on the moon. (Whomever he is...?)  They know of me, we are acquainted, but they don't know me.  They have no idea what goes on outside of our church. (Ok, for all of you pastorswives, you know what this is all about!)

This is my "friend" breakdown: I have tons of acquaintances (people that I love dearly), some friends, and a couple of people that I could call in the middle of the night and they would be there to help me (or vise versa).

As Christians, Jesus is our role model.  Correct?  He is the one that we look to because it is He that we have been preordained to become the likeness of.  (Romans 8:28-30)

Jesus had many followers.  He had 12 close disciples, then He had 3 close, carefully chosen friends.  He spent a lot of time with "the three".

Just this morning on Joyce Meyer's Enjoying Everyday Life (you can watch her shows by clicking on the link), Joyce was talking about this very thing.  She must have studied Jesus!!

Isn't it funny how some people assume that because they aren't your best friend, you must not have any?  I'll admit, I don't have a bunch of friends but I do have a few and that is just fine by me!! ;)

How about you?  Are you the kind of person who has tons of "friends" or a carefully chosen few?

What about Easter?

Haven't you ever wondered where Easter came from since Yeshua (Jesus) celebrated Passover?

I have read many articles and books (which are backed up by Scripture) on this subject and this video sums up what I found out to be true.  Not ALL of the facts are represented in this video but it does give you a good base.  Some of the facts that are not included would gross you out.  Let me tell you, our family will never dye another "Easter egg" again.

I wanted to share a song with you.  This is a song that you can catch any one of us (our family ) dancing around the house to and praising the LORD.

I got out today!

I got out of the house for a few minutes today.  It seems like FOREVER since I stepped outside.  (Weeks anyway...)  We went to look at a possible house for our family.  It's out in the country and has horses in the back yard.  We will find out more about it next week so we haven't made a decision yet.

I sure hope our LORD makes this an easy transition.  Nothing has been easy lately!  I know He doesn't promise easy...  : (   I just need a break!

On a happier note, I am doing a ladies Bible study at our house (wherever that will be) and we are starting soon.  I hope to bring along some girls who haven't been taught about how lovely they are to God and about their role in their families.

Also, I am holding a coupon party soon!  I will be showing a how to coupon video and we will be exchanging coupons that we don't need.  This should be fun!

God is on the move again!

Psalm 84:12  O LORD (Yahweh) of hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You!

Confusing the enemy - Weekend Worship

I listen to this song and worship as I sit here thinking about the long hard week we had.

Fevers as high as 103.4
Painful stabs in stomach
Aches all over
Temperatures dropping too low
Son turned gray
MANY visits to the "throne room"
Dehydration
Muscle aches from dehydration
Pounding headaches lasting for days
Extreme fatigue
Out of the mind
Couldn't walk at times
Weak bodies
Tears

My God carried us in our exhaustion.  He was there to comfort us through the pain.  I knew His name was near.  I sang out, "Yeshu  u  a....".  I even made up a song to Yahweh.

I will confuse the enemy with my worship.

Feelin a little better

Well, it seems that the worst is over.  We believe that we had salmonella poisoning and have narrowed it down to 2 different things.  2 things that I don't plan to eat for a long while!

I also believe that I miscarried.  A new start just couldn't make it through 103.2 temps and dehydration.

I read this while I was sick and it was brought up in my mind several times:

Psalm 75:1  We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, For Your name is near;

Even though I couldn't see what God was doing this past week or feel like He was near, I had to remind myself that He will NEVER leave us and His "name is near".

In Exodus 34: 6  God says His name and tells of His characteristics.  This, too, brings me comfort.

Then the LORD (Yahweh) passed by in front of him and proclaimed, "Yahweh, Yahweh Elohim, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin...

Hello ALL!

I am feeling good enough to be up and about a little today.  Praising the LORD!

I thank you for your prayers and support.  The rest of the family is still fighting hard with GOD as their shield of favor.

Hope to be back with you all soon.

Love and blessings!

Janet

Here is the song for me!!!!!!!!!!!
